DIY Guide How to Print 8 CNIC Photos on 4x6 Paper
You have successfully taken your photo and resized it using our tool. You have the perfect digital file on your phone. Now you need a hard copy for your physical file or manual application. If you walk into a photo studio and ask them to print a soft copy they will likely charge you the full price of a photo shoot. It is a common business tactic to discourage people from bringing their own files.
But you do not need them. With a simple home printer or a visit to a cheap photocopy shop you can print a set of 8 photos for the price of a cup of tea. The secret is knowing how to arrange them on a standard 4x6 inch paper.
Understanding the 4x6 Inch Standard
In the world of photography the 4x6 inch paper is king. It is the standard postcard size that every photo printer is designed to handle. The dimensions of a CNIC photo are 35mm width and 45mm height.
If you do the math you can fit exactly 8 of these photos on a single 4x6 sheet. Two rows of four photos each. This efficient layout is exactly what studios use to maximize their profits while charging you hundreds of rupees.
Creating Your Print Sheet in Microsoft Word
You do not need complex software like Photoshop. Microsoft Word works perfectly if you know the right settings.
- Open a New Document Go to Layout and set the size to 4x6 inches or 10x15 cm. Set the orientation to Landscape.
- Zero Margins This is critical. Go to Margins and select Custom Margins. Set Top Bottom Left and Right all to zero.
- Insert Picture Drop your resized image onto the page.
- Exact Size Right click the image and select Size and Position. Uncheck Lock Aspect Ratio. Manually type in 3.5 cm for width and 4.5 cm for height.
- Duplicate Copy and paste the image until you have 8 copies filling the page.
Choosing the Right Paper Glossy vs Matte
NADRA scanners are picky. While matte paper is artistic it often has a texture that can cause scanning noise. We strongly recommend High Gloss Photo Paper. The shiny surface reflects light in a way that makes the image sharp and vibrant. It also mimics the plastic texture of the actual ID card which helps in the printing process later at the NADRA facility.
Printer Settings for Best Results
If you hit print with default settings your photos might come out looking dull or striped.
- Paper Type Select Glossy Photo Paper in your printer properties. This tells the printer to spray more ink.
- Quality Always select High or Best. Standard mode saves ink but ruins face details.
- Scaling Ensure the scale is set to 100 percent. Do not select Fit to Page as this will shrink your 35mm photo and it will be rejected.
The Manual Printing Option
If you do not have a printer save your 4x6 grid as a PDF file. Take this PDF to any local print shop or stationery store. Ask them to print it on a 4x6 photo sheet. They usually charge between 30 to 50 rupees. Compare that to the 300 rupees a studio charges.
Once printed use sharp scissors to cut them out. Now you have photos ready for your application or your baby's form.
